Irish Runner Feb/March 2016

To everyone that took the time to message me, tweet, text or call about the latest issue of Irish Runner magazine, thanks! I really appreciate it.

While the cover and article might focus on Maureen, me & the kids, it really is more about the fact that running is for everyone, young & old. You don’t need to run marathons, just get out & a couple of times a week and put one foot in front of the other; Thats all I did.

Walk, jog or run, whatever you decide to do will go a long way towards changing your life & health for the better.

I’m very lucky that I get to run with my family. It is time together that is fun and never a chore. I will cherish it forever.

Cheers

Whats up with the Elmo? The story behind my triathlon pal..

When I’m doing a triathlon I regularly get strange looks in transition. I know I’m not your pin up image of a triathlete but they’re not looking at me, the quizzical looks are normally directed at the fact that I have a stuffed toy sellotaped to my bike. Continue reading

Really, you’re doing an Ironman, are you mad? – Ironman 70.3 Dublin – Race report.

No, I’m not mad actually, I was remarkably calm in the weeks leading up to Ironman 70.3 Dublin, unusually so. I’m normally uptight for even the smallest or most insignificant of races so this was far from normal. Continue reading

Committed to paper…

I’ve a reputation for going ‘gung ho’ into decisions and setting targets that I then have to work hard to achieve. Marathons, times, targets, Half Ironman triathlons and god forbid Ironman distance races! Continue reading

Kinvara 10k – Race Report

I like routine and if I find something that works I tend to do it the same way again and again. In fact, on a recent visit to the Zoo, a friend joked that we would go round and visit the animals in an anticlockwise direction, just to see how I’d react…  Continue reading
